I've attempted commuting to work a few times now. Seems like it is time to write about both the bike as well as some of the unique parts of commuting to work in NYC.
I live and work in Brooklyn, NY. Most people, including me before I tried it, thought that the whole idea of riding a motorcycle here was insane. Public transportation is readily available in NYC to such an extent that many people live their whole lives here without ever getting a drivers license. Every pedestrian has...

Not much to say here. But, had to buy a few things at Staples and took the bike instead of the car. It is barely 5 miles. There's no better way to go five miles.
I'm really loving this bike. Flick-able and has power when I need it. I totally think its strength is around town.

Went out yesterday for another 100+ mile ride. We rode to upstate Bear Mountain area and hit the Perkins Memorial Parkway. The treat at the end is the observation tower and oodles of other bikes to look at.
This is the type of ride that I bought this bike for. Steady in curves at speed and even a bit above the speed limit. There was one curve that I took too wide, but that was totally my fault. I was thinking about other things, enjoying the scenery to the right and didn't start turning...

Took my old (2003) Vulcan 500 to the shop to get a tune up and sell. I am very happy to be out of this bike and into the FZ6R. The Vulcan was a great commuter bike. Helped me understand that a longer wheel base likes to go straight and not so much fun in the curves. I was also quite frankly bored to tears with the horse power. Took the thing up to 90mph and it ran straight and steady. Yet again, no comparison to the FZ6R. There is so much more pull. I feel safer with the power, like I'm more in...

Put another 20 miles on the bike today. It was all around town and not at all on the highway. Running all those gears and varying rpms just like I'm supposed to.
I spent a lot of time thinking about the simple things. You know, all those things that come as second nature once you've been riding a lot. (Sidebar: found my MSF card from 2001.) One thing that came up a lot is how much dropping my feet puts me totally out of line with the bike. What I mean is that when my legs are close...
