I had mentioned this awhile back in another handle bar thread, which another FZ6R owner (met at dealership) did this mod for a more aggressive stance. Dealer told me the FZ1 handle bar costs around $75 US. I've been thinking about doing it, but not before I paint it black.
Has anyone else done this? Video FYI - He talks and shows pictures (before/after) only in the beginning. He rambles on about some other nonsense the rest. |

Wasn't that an FZ6 he was riding? Would that work for the 6R? I've noticed the "kink in the wrist" he was talking about but since our fairings are up so high, we would have to put those one inch risers in. I couldn't roll my handlebars forward that much because when I would turn the handlebars all the way a certain direction, it would hit the gas tank or fairings.

Yes in the video its an FZ6. Talking with the FZ6R owner at the dealership said he used the stock rises in the forward position. He said it was close to hitting the tank, but cleared up top no problem. That's pretty much how my handle bars are now in the stock position but turned down.
With the FZ1 bar I'd assume with a straighter bar the grips would sit about two inches forward and an inch down....roughly. |

Would it look better and have a more leaned forward feel to go with turning the bars down or to get that $75 handle bar? |

Ha ha ha that's my boy Mike! - Wilks89. I spoke with him about this a while back. It'll work for sure. The FZ6 bars are identical to ours. Look for his other video upcloser. He describes where he had to drill a hole for the right controls as the have a nub that slides in to keep from twisting on the bars. Plus you'll need the up n back risers to clear the tank which cost around $100-$150.
Good luck!
