Default Spend more money!?

I'm debating whether or not to order Intuitive Frame Sliders right now... or wait 4 weeks for T-Rex to get their sliders back in stock. I'm being extra careful everywhere I go but idiot cagers aren't. I had 2 incidents where I almost laid my bike down and here I am wondering if I should get them now and it'll save me the money to replace the plastics in the long end.

Also... the targa fender eliminator as well. I really hate that stock fender, it's like finding a guy part on your girlfriend! But that's another $80! Was told another option was to make my own eliminator but I'm not into cutting, welding or bending.

That's about a month's payment to my bike...

Help me decide!!

An extra $40.00 on sliders now could potentially save you hundreds...i mean high hundreds, worth of replacements in the future. Last I saw it was about $800 to replace the right fairing with a brand new one from the factory.

Now I recently low-sided and although my slider didn't completely save my fairing it saved it to the point where I could still resell on-line when I wanted/got cash to replace it with a new one.It also saved it to the point where I didn't have to replace it (broken mounts and what not). My sliders (i had yamaha factory ones) saved the powder coat on the engine casing and what not as well.

my vote is get the sliders now. FE kit can wait (i know it's ugly) until more cash comes in.

Good point. I went ahead and made a deal with my brother =). Frame sliders or FE kit for my birthday coming up and he said I'd rather you get the Frame Sliders and I'll make the FE Kit.

So I went ahead and ordered the Intuitive No Cut Sliders from Solo Moto Parts (The only place that didn't say there was no availability) and the estimated ship is 2-3 days. Was 107 with free shipping.

congrats....the fender is easy enough to do... I just took the stock one off and mounted a license plate bracket right there with the stock holes. It was like $15 at my local yamaha dealer. The bracket has a place for little turn signals too if you want to add them.

Here is a similar one: linky

There is no light on that bracket though... thats one of my concerns. As I've gotten pulled over in a vehicle once for not having a light on my plate.

I went with the Shogun No-Cut sliders. It was something like $75 from my Yamaha dealership. Add another $40 shipped for my B2 Industries FE, and it's coming in at roughly similar price as the Intuitive pieces!

Yeah Shogun makes sliders for our FZ6Rs in two flavors: cut & no-cut. I looked at the cut ones--jeez, I absolutely WILL NOT cut up a perfectly good fairing! Nope, not for me.

The No-cut one was fine. It looks super robust and installed in a breeze.

I would never get a cut frame slider on a perfectly new bike.... unless it was the absolute last resort!

Anyways here's what I heard from the Shogun No Cuts from the other Frame Slider thread:

"i have shogun no cuts on my r1, don't bother, they are garbage, the mount rotated when I lowsided and broke the mid fairing mounts. go with graves, intuitive, motovation."

The adapter plates aren't very large for the FZ6R; there isn't very much room for rotation!

There was another no-cut slider I'd looked at... I think it was Intuitive? Not sure. There's some sort of cutout/notch IN the slider to clear the fairing... that particular design I have little faith... a cut like that in the slider is a stress riser--that's the first place the slider will bend/snap. If not going w/ the Shogun no-cuts, then go for the one that's a solid slider w/o a notch in the slider.

Besides, if the mid-fairing mounts broke on an R1 (which is a different application than the FZ6R anyhow), surely that's cheaper than an entire messed-up fairing, no?
