I guess I am going to continue use the 87 octane fuel, but since it does have the ethanol in it do you all think I should put a fuel cleaner in it every once and a while? If so, how often do you think?

Who needs gas? I had Doc Brown install one of these:
But on the serious side... it's obvious from the manual that Yamaha is good with 87 octane and up. Since our tanks are so small, it's the difference between spending 7 dollars for a fill-up versus $7.50 (at least where I am). Go with what your wallet allows! I typically go middle of the road (premium) just cause it's only a 10 cent difference from regular unleaded. But for those of you who say she runs smoother with premium.... I bet the Yamaha engineers who actually read these forums are probably giggling to themselves cause they know the engine doesn't run any different other then slightly better gas mileage on higher octane. But like I said.. for $.50 difference per tank... it doesn't hurt for people to have their own 'perceptions'.
