Default Tailbags...

So I know most of you don't do a lot of distance riding, but its something I like to do...I have been looking at some new tailpacks recently (I already have a nice tankbag) and am wondering if you have any suggestions. I want something that attaches to the rear seat, rather than around the entire rear fairing like so many of them do. I have found this one by Kriega that I like, and one that everyone else seems to love, the Cortech Sport Tail pack, just wondering if anyone has suggestions on others that you like.

Kreiga

Cortech

Is price a factor? And also the size of the bag?

I have the Cortech sport tailbag. Fits like it was made for the FZ6R, stays secure, and capacity with the expandable sides is perfect for day trips.

Only downside: I relinquished my Man Purse Virginity last weekend , and the Cortech bag is bulky to carry around by the shoulder strap. Quite manly, though.

Price is not a factor, I would like at least 15 liters / enough for 3 days trip.

One plus on the Cortech, you can get the side saddlebags as well. I have the tail and side bags, check the pics from the skyline trip and you'll see them on the Raven.
One negative, the "rain proof" is a cover that comes with the bag, it is not waterproof without covering it, but I haven't found many that had built in rain proof, most use some kind of cover.

The tail bag is bungee, so you can bungee all the way under, or shorten them up and bungee to the hand rail. I've ridden off a couple of time forgetting to strap them and have not had it fall off, the pad under it grips the seat well.

I had a cooler on one side for all our drinks/lunch. They are huge.

great thread as Ive been looking for a basic tailbag too. not for long distance but for carry stuff back and forth to work. I found and fell in love with the cortech but I like the Kreiger or whatever one now too! I wanted something that went around the seat too but did not come across that one.

Hmmmm. For me though price is also a factor and I find the cortech within reason. Will have to check the price of the other. its looks nice and I dont need anything huge.

Thanks guys..I will be watching this one!!

Talking

I'm looking at this at the moment
Cortech - Tail bags Cortech Competition Accessories .

In case I need more storage for longer trips the Cortech mentioned above would make a nice 30 liter addition to my 55 liter tail case. Price is within reason ($81) and there's the posibility to upgrade another 40 liter by adding the saddle bags Cortech - Saddlebags Cortech Competition Accessories too ($144).

Just my 2 cents.

Nelson Rigg makes nice bags. The price is only 50% more, but you get nearly twice as much space and it still looks good. Plus, the saddle bags make for tons of storage.

After much deliberation, frustration, and lots of googling, I have decided to ignore the blatantly obvious pole results....I have decided to go with Kriega. I am buying the US-10 tailpack, and the R25 backpack. I will post up a review when I get the luggage and put it through its paces.

EDIT: I only gave the poll a day. I'll give it a week....probably won't change my mind, but we shall see. Unless my mind gets changed. I will order my Kriega stuff on mar-17

Well, you did only give the pole a day.... just an FYI for future reference, some people only get on here every couple of days.... and, go with your gut... it's nice to get feedback from us, but we can only give you feedback on what our experiences are, if you find something different, we just may not have had the chance to try it yet.
