Ok, I'm gonna say it...Is there a reason people aren't using the 'Search' feature of the forum before starting a new thread on already discussed topics? There is a lot of good information already posted on this forum and to start a new thread on the same topic asking the same questions...
If I'm totally off base with this gripe, I apologize in advance.

Not off base at all. The search feature is pretty accurate compared to other forums as well.

You are spot on... that's why we've kinda started pointing people back to the original threads.... There really are great comments as well as multiple viewpoints on certain topics.

Maybe we should implement a new member training session on the Search feature before they are even allowed to post....
We could set up a webinar!Or, we could make the Search button float around on the screen to get people's attention.

Or when making a new thread put in big red letters:
STOP! Before making a new thread, have you tried using our search feature?

^^ That's good too. Or have a FAQ section with all the frequently asked questions all in one spot. Some things with shorter words are hard to search for and you have to sift through a bunch of unwanted stuff just because it has a word in it.
I know there are lots and lots of sub-sections and adding another makes some cringe... OR! Just create a locked sticky thread that is on ALL sub forums that the mods can just post links and descriptions of all commonly asked questions. Or just keep it simple like stated and SEARCH you damn noobs! haha J/K!!! Thats whats great about this place, is the friendship and willingness to help. We dont want to push new people out the door either.

On the Ex500 riders sight they had a little wiki link at the top which has a overview of everything. service manuals, how to, mechanic etc.

Here is a thought to consider, (even though I usually use the search feature); the conversational tone of the site. It's easy to get into something just as it comes up. Also, as a newer rider/member, if you just weed through what all the older members did it's not as much fun. I admit I have moved on to other concerns to the point that I might be stale on certain issues, (been there done that)! Anyway certain info can definitely be searched beforehand, like the "how to's", etc.
