Yup. Went for about 100 mile ride yesterday and still was leaking fluid from right around where the lower radiator hose connects to the water pump. So last night I backed the clamp all the way out and move it alittle farther up on the hose in hopes that this will cure it. I am thinking that some of the fluid is seeping out through the end of the hose where it connects to the water pump. I rode to work this morning so we will have to give her at look later and see if it leaked on the way in this morning

I hope you get it figured out. My guess is probably a loose hose or connection somewhere. I have yet to hear about any problems with the bike, so this is the first. If it's just a loose fitting, then no big deal, but if you find out that it is something more, please let us know so that we can all check it out on our own bikes.

I love this place! This is what forums are all about. People with common interests, helping others out.

99, this forum is another reason why I liked the fz6r so much, not only is it a great smooth intro bike but can still haul you around, but everyone on here is super nice and shares in alot of the same interest. I actually joined the forum before I even bought my bike, just so I could read some of the post and look at everyones pictures. I am glad I went with the fz! As for my leak. I just walked out to the bike here at work after riding in this morning and guess what.... No leak as of right now. I am thinking that the clamp just wasnt doing a good enough job of holding back all the pressure of the radiator fluid and was pressing out of the hose at the end, by the pump. So after I moved the clamp up a bit away from the pump, it seems to have stopped the leak. Going to take a ride on lunch today to check again but I am just hoping that the hose just wasnt sealing right. Everyone cross there fingers

Well after a bit of a ride this afternoon on lunch, come back to work and no leak! I am thinking that the radiator hose clamp was just a bit loose and to close to the end of the hose to be holding back enough of that pressure and was seeping out of the bottom of the tube. I guess for everyone now, would be to go out to your bike and on the water pump side bottom two tubes, make sure those babies are tight!

went for another ride and smelled the coolant burning again...still cant see any leaks but I'm going to take your advise and tighten the waterpump hose clamps...BTW if it was going to spit out of the overflow it would go right onto my exhaust pipe and burn...not sure if thats the way the tube should be placed but it is the way the dealer gave it too me...

Superfly, on that overflow hose you can just grab it by hand and pull it out of the fairing to take a look at the tube and see if there is any fluid that has come out of the tube. Should be a black hose. I might get alittle adventurous tonight and learn how to take off the right faring in order to get to the radiator fill tank

Well, I rode to work this morning and rode on my lunch. Come back from my lunch ride and what do you know........ you guessed it, leaking! Well that was the last of that and turned around and rode right to the dealership that I bought the bike from last tuesday today! When I got to the dealership it was clearly leaking and was leaking quit a bit now! Of course I waited around in there service area for about an hour and the shop manager comes back and says all fixed. I asked what the fix was and they said, well the clamp just wasnt in the right place and it wasnt tight enough! Go figure, that I already knew this and it was leaking before I even tried to tighten the clamp. Well the shop manager takes the bike out for a quick ride out and back, comes back.... no leak. I am thinking to myself well maybe they are right just a leaky clamp. Well I ride back home all back rodes as it that I have my temps still and cant ride on the highway. Get back into my garage, put the kick stand down and do what I have been doing the past couple of days is get on my back on the water pump side to see if it is leaking and what do you know!!!!! LEAKING!!!!!! Now after a 75 mile ride back from it being fixed, I am HOT! I call up the service manager and he says well, we will have to take another look at it then. Hang up, couple hours later he calls back and offers to pick the bike up in there dealership rig and take it to the shop for me (awesome customer service so far, horrible yamaha so far!) He comes to pick it up and said I was affraid you would be calling me later today, I am guessing its either a bad water pump seal and tube, both, or bad water pump and all of the above!!! So great, one week into the new bike and I am sidelined till they find out whats wrong with it and then wait on parts if need be! What do you all think about this? Also, what is everyones normal operating temps you all have been getting. Obviously the temps are going to range on the riding conditions but just an overal idea of what kind of temps everyone is looking at. Is it unheard of, of seeing the temp above 212? I think I have gotten it up to around 215 or so. The manual says you can go up to 240! Does that number seem high? Other than this leaking issue I absolutly love my bike and wouldmt trade it in on an r6 ever! Althought I am almost 400 miles into the break in, I do feel the need for a new windscreen and comfort seat!

Wow thats crazy that yours was just a cap, but how in the world would fluid get from the cap all the way down to the bottom of the bike and drip right under the water pump cover? I really hope this is what it is!
