Just got a quick question on what type of battery charger all of you are using out there. will a regular trickle charger work or do i need a " SPECIAL CONSTANT BATTERY CHARGER" as stated in the owners manual.

Another vote for the Battery Tender Jr. It's compatible with the VRLA battery on the FZ6R and you just plug it in an forget about it.
Only 23 bucks and change on Amazon (add some AA batteries or whatever to get up to to $25 for free shipping).

Agreed. The Deltran Battery Tender Jr. is great. I use it on 3 of my vehicles: the alligator clips for the car, a 12V power socket adapter/pigtail for my scooter, and I hardwired the battery ring pigtail on the FZ6R. Pigtail fits nicely in the itty bitty trunk area.

The batter tender Jr. is the best and a must have. Never have a problem.

As anyone bought the OptiMate 4 charger, it's the one sold on the Yamaha web site.
I notice alot of riders have the Deltran Battery Tender Jr and are satisfied with it. Just wondering if there was any reason to buy the OptiMate 4 over the Deltran Tender Jr. |

Both those chargers are for sealed lead-acid batteries....
I just noticed Yamaha has the OptiMate 4 on their site as a recommended one. The Battery tender JR is a fairly cheap way to go and works fine. The one thing about the OptiMate that caught my eye: "IP64 weatherproof sealed enclosure with built-in mounting option " No worries about leaving it outside to charge... the Tender JR... looks like a wall wart with vents.... not sure how it will do outside if any water gets on it. |
