Default After the first oil change.

Hi all,
For all of you with new bikes awaiting a first oil change / service. I can tell you that the slightly tight feeling of the gears goes away with the first change.

I also installed the stainless brake lines. Only on the front and in my opinion, they are really not worth it. They are not really doing that much. The feel is about the same.

These are a couple of observations I have as of today.

Good day all...

I don't think you really have much to worry as you'll get used to the bike and riding if you plan on keeping the bike for a long time. As you'll eventually find out things that are a bit odd and know what is wrong.

Well it feels that way because the oil lubricated the transmission. Every time you change the oil, you're going to notice a smoother transition through the gears. I second MikeN02 on the range of comparison.

I've never done the steel brake lines, but my understanding is with heat, compared to stock, they won't lose their "consistency", they don't get "spongy", etc. They maintain a constant pressure 'cause the hydraulics move the pistons and not "bulge" the lines first.
Have you ridden for hours and noticed any difference? Or has it been in the 90's and noticed any difference? Just curious.

Well to answer your question dart1963, I've had steel braided lines on my other two bikes before this, and there is a considerable difference in the performance on demanding mountain roads. I've noticed too that I would get a better "bite" feel out of the brakes when under controlled breaking.

also, make sure to bleed the brakes again after a few hundred miles, usually a few air bubbles will come out.

I just got the bike back yesterday. It's been cold here, 65 degrees during the day and I have been working. Had no chance to take it on a long run. I am going to the mountains in NC in May so there I will have a chance to determine how well they do.

When it warms somewhat here I will go on a longer ride and maybe write about the brakes.
