Completely agree with this. I also feel that it is a great starter bike. Personally I started on an old 750, but I think that a 250 would get boring too quickly. Basically because they are limited. But the next "typical" size would be a 600 or 650, so there isn't much choice for someone not looking to get on something that they can't handle. Hopefully this bike will hold value very well like the 250's do so that you don't lose too much after owning it for a year or so. Just my $0.02.

Go to 44 seconds on the first video, hit pause. That windshield doesn't extend all the way down. Looks like it's designed to have air flow both over and under the shield. Then again I could be completely missing something. 400 seems like the perfect transition bike to 600s or more. I like the way it looks at least.

It does....Actually, it looks like it may have an adjustable windscreen. I know the Kawasaki Versys has one, so maybe they brought that over...would be a nice feature.

I take that back. I looked and yes, there is a gap, but it isn't because there is an adjustable windscreen. I think it is just to get slight airflow under it....Now you do know that there is a gap on the 6R's too right?

Actually, as I stated before and not meaning to sound like a pecker, It is identical to the 650. Even at weight it is only a few lbs lighter but about the same as our FZ6R's.

Let’s do any easy numbers comparison for all three bikes:
650R: 71bhp, 49lb/ft, 204kg/449.5lbs, .35bhp:kg, .24lb/ft:kg
400R: 42bhp, 27lb/ft, 203kg/447.5lbs, .20bhp:kg, .13lb/ft:kg
250R: 30.5bhp, 16lb/ft, 170kg/375lbs, .18bhp:kg, .09lb.ft:kg

This should give everyone an idea on the bike.

Dart: It's a parallel Twin not a V-Twin

Anyways I have to hand it to Kawi on those types of engines. Aside from the vibration they have proven to be very reliable engines.

Yeah, for me there are two things about the bike that don't make sense: the price, and the weight. At $500-1000 less and 25-50 lbs. less, it would make a good beginner/bargain bike. Otherwise it's just an underpowered, slightly less expensive Ninja 650.

Super,,I couldn't agree more than what you said. I remember when Suzuki brought out the GSXR 600 in the US,and it turned out to be a sleeved down 750 engine in the 750 frame. I like the idea of a sporting 400cc bike infact I would just love it if Honda would market this for Canada/USA.

Nay, I say to you no I did not. Obvious cracks where it is connected to the fairing, but a gap? Hmm.

It is hard to see if you have a clear screen, with reflections, but if you get a tinted screen or you paint it, and look down from the inside, there is a small gap. It isn't huge like that one, but it is there, maybe 1/4". It is around the "power crystal"
