Default Please post about your mishaps here

It's the hall of shame but we all want to hear about your mishaps. There's always something to learn from each person who drops a bike, has an accident, etc... Tell us what happened, what gear you had on, what went wrong, what you've learned and what you can do to avoid it going forward.

Enjoy the site!

How about I simply put the lesson learned.....

Target fixation sucks. Don't do it.

Thanks.

The day I got my bike, I tried to turn it around, standing beside it, in the grass. I got it off balance and though I tried like hell, hanging on for dear life to the left handlebar, I let it fall over. My husband was in the truck with the kids watching me, rolled the window down and asked me what I thought I was doing. Truth is, had no clue! I have learned since. No damage done, just popped the turn signal out, and had to pop it back in.

cormom2, you're not the only one... i was doing the same thing inside my garage when i first got my bike. i held on for about 30 seconds, but i just couldn't hold on to 400+lbs and i had to let her down. thank god, i was able to let her down slow though.

Default Feel like an idiot..

2nd day with the new bike, two perfect days of mishap free riding, I am trying to back it into the garage, driveway's uneven, I'm just a little too short for my bike (need that lowering link), wheel turned, down she goes. Scratches to the left side, moved the clutch lever, popped the turn signal out .. coulda been worse but DANG IT wanted to keep it perfect.

Just ordered frame sliders.

Holy crap I almost dropped her... was in a parking lot and some idiot girl in a truck pulled through the parking space in front of her and didn't look and I slammed on my brakes... almost dropped her on the right hand side but I put my foot down and thought through this whole process "OH CRAP! NO YOU"RE NOT GOING DOWN!!" so I just all my strength in my right leg and my arms to set her straight.

Such a close call!

On 10/10/09, went for a final ride before the end of the season with my buddy. Was following his 1125r through some really nice twisties near his house. Wasn't going fast, but still trying to get my lean on. Took a turn a bit too wide, hit some loose gravel and slid off the side of the road. Ended up high siding. Scraped up the left side of the bike, shattered the left turn signal, scraped the hell out of my helmet where my left eye would have been (I bounced before I flipped). Ended up with a broken knuckle on my throttle hand and some minor road rash.

Lesson learned: Dont try to ride on the street like you would ride on the track. Especially in areas you aren't familiar with.

Another Close call today: Went to the left turn lane and it was a red light, U Haul truck quickly threw on his turn signals and merged onto me. I honked like hell and luckily I didn't drop her just hit the wheel a little on the median side walk thing. I put her in neutral and threw my arms up in the air and the guy rolled down his windows, waved his arm at me I was like seriously?

The nice lady behind me opened her door stuck her head out and asked if I was okay and then I turned around and gave her a thumbs up.

After the light turned green I made the left turn and speed past this stupid cager.

The other night I thought it would be cool to burn tire in my garage!! So I held in the clutch and the front brake(FYI!! I havent been riding long) so I turned the throttle and slowly let the clutch go feeling the rear tire lift up and started to see white smoke from my tire, since I have a TBR I can't really hear nothing but my exhaust in my garage. While doing this and thinking Im the coolest dude ever I let go of my front brake accidentally and my bike and myself went toward the garage door which was half way opened and I ran right in to the side of the concrete wall I have in my garage. LOL Broke my new installed trojan mirrors on my left side as you are sitting on the bike that I waited along time to get, bent my clutch, and thank god for frame sliders. I was not wearing any gear and NO clue on how I didn't hurt myself cause the bike and I went soo fast in to the wall.

Lesson Learned. 1)Don't drink alcoholic beverages. 2) Dont let go of the front brake while doing something you really don't know how to do anyways. 3) never will do this again no ways. LOL
