what was I thinking?

I've had my motorcycle license for 4 years, but because of my two pregnancies I have only ridden for 2 of the 4 summer. I decided I am done having kids and wanted a nicer bike... so I sold my 89 ninja 500 and bought a brand new 2009 Pearl White FZ6R.
This wouldn't be horrible except that my husband decided he wanted a new bike and bought a $13000 Victory Vegas Jackpot in the same week.
I was out riding yesterday after having a long discussion with my husband about getting the bike lowered. I got stuck behind a SLOW truck and wanted to turn around. I picked a small side street and did a tight turn in the opening....when I came to a stop my balance was off and that's when it happened. I dropped my beautiful bike.
tragic really.
It scratched up the sticker and some of the black area.
<sigh>
I feel like a retard.
A nice man came and helped me pick it up.
I'm 5'4 and can't handle this bike. My feet can't go flat, only the balls touch... I'm sick to my stomach about the whole deal.
I now am paying a LOT of money for a bike that I'm scared to ride because I can't even make a silly turn!
If i'm going straight and every condition is perfect than it's fine, but the second you through a variable into the mix, down I go.
maybe I should have stuck with my 89 ninja...

My wife is about as tall as you and she has the 2005 ninja 500. I actually learned to ride on her bike. The Fz6r is an awesome bike. Yes a little more power and different riding position for some but the bike is good. Now sure if you have lowered it but before you get really frustrated try that. You bought a wonderful bike, now just make it fit you. I have done some not so smart things on this bike and it forgives us pretty well. So keep your head up and remember that practice is only going to make things better. But really do try to lower the bike. We had to lower the ninja to fit my wife. That is why I had to go out and buy my own. I am 6'3 and love my wife but boy was that not a good fit lol. Hope all works out for you and saddle back up and keep riding. It seems as though you do have a passion for it. Take care and have a wonderful day.Posted 05-05-2010 at 12:47 PM by nlpyle
